Our Pastor and First Lady

Rev. Frank Gilchrist Jr. was born in Lorain, OH to the late Frank Gilchrist Sr. and Mary Gilchrist.  Pastor Gilchrist has been married to Lady Paula Gilchrist for 32 years.  During that time God blessed them  with two children, Candace Gilchrist-Colston of Lorain, OH and Marcus Gilchrist of Boulder, CO.  Pastor Gilchrist is presently employed by Lorain Emerson as an Electrical Engineer and part-time at Lorain County Community College as an Adjunct Instructor in the Engineering Technologies Division.
 

Pastor Gilchrist's vast educational accomplishments include a diploma in Electronic Technician from DeVry Institute of Technology, an Associate Degree in Pre-Engineering and an Associate Degree in Mathematics from Lorain County  Community College, and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) from Cleveland State University.  

 

Pastor Gilchrist and family began attending New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in 1992, where he became the Youth Sunday School teacher.  In addition, he taught Wednesday night Bible Class for both the adults and youth.  In September of 1998 he bacame a licensed minister and was advanced in 1999 from Youth Sunday School teacher to the Adult Sunday School teacher.  The Calvary Hill District Association appointed him as Director of Youth Dept., where he and his wife served from 2001 to 2003.  In July of 2002 he was ordained  into the ministry at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and in 2004 became the Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Dr. Robert T. Marbury.  When Dr. Marbury was called home to be with the Lord in October of 2013, the New Hope family and the United Missionary Baptist District Association, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, made the obvious choice of Rev. Frank Gilchrist Jr., to be installed as the new Pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church on December 8, 2013.  

 

Pastor and Lady Gilchrist  are committed first to doing the will of God by spreading the gospel.  Their committment to God shows in everything they do.  Pastor and Lady Gilchrist stepped into their roles as Pastor and First Lady willingly and eager to strive for the advancement of the church and to foster the Fruits of the Spirit.  The New Hope family is blessed to have such a wonderful Pastor and First Lady!!
